Although the Girl Scout Gold Award is an individually earned award, Girl Scouts are encouraged to reach out for assistance. The individuals below are those who have been influential throughout the creation of The Syd Project. Some of the individuals have also helped me with my personal healing journey and if it were not for my personal healing, The Syd Project would cease to exist. Each one of these individuals have played an important role in The Syd Project and therefore, deserve recognition. There are many other individuals who have provided me with support, love, and guidance, and a big "thank you" goes out to them as well. I could not have created The Syd Project without the roles that each individual played.
For eight years, Bobbi has been my Girl Scout leader. She has played an influential role in my life and has helped me grow into the young woman I am today. Whether I need someone to confide in or assistance with a Girl Scout badge, Bobbi is there as not only a leader, but also a friend.
Megan has also been my Girl Scout leader for many years. She and Bobbi have worked alongside each other to ensure that girls, like me, have a safe space to grow and thrive in. Megan's role goes beyond being a Girl Scout leader and her support does not go unnoticed.
My mother, Jennifer, has been my primary support throughout my healing journey. From the beginning, she has believed, supported, and cared about me. She helped me decide to create The Syd Project and is always encouraging me to do bigger and better things.
My father, Jason, is also a part of my personal support system. Ever since I confided in him about my sexual assault, he has taken it upon himself to further educate himself on the topic, as well as on how to better support me.
Abbie is both my personal mentor and my Gold Award advisor. She has been nothing but supportive with my personal healing journey, as well as The Syd Project. Whether I needed advice, opinions, ideas, or someone to talk to, Abbie was there.
Steph has been influential with the legal side of my website. She led me in the right direction when I was not sure where to go next and introduced me to another one of my Gold Award assistants.
Lisa provided me with ideas on how to improve The Syd Project, in addition to reviewing it to ensure it contains all of the necessary information.
Like a few of my other assistants, Jenny used her career experience to help me better The Syd Project. More specifically, she provided another set of eyes for The Syd Project, before completion, ensuring that the information is accurate and useful.
Jessica has been a therapist of mine prior to my sexual assault, during it, and continues to support me. She helped me process what I went through, which has helped me heal and create The Syd Project.
Ally, another one of my therapists, taught me a lot of what I know in regards to trauma and how it affects survivors. She helped me through my personal healing journey and changed the way I view trauma, specifically trauma surrounding sexual assault.
My older brother, Kyle, was one of my biggest supporters. He always believed in me and felt that I would go far in life and do great things. Unfortunately, he passed before the creation of The Syd Project, but I know that he would have supported me throughout it all.
